Neuroarchitecture, brain and meditation.
If you think a little, it will become clear how the brain and architecture are interconnected - the one who invents and embodies it - the brain carrier. The brain that formed the architecture, then changes under its influence. Today there are scientific measurements of this effect.
With the help of the MRI apparatus it has been proved that contemplation of architectural masterpieces causes a reaction in the brain that is almost the same as during meditation. Such contemplation improves the functions of the prefrontal cortex, activates the occipital lobe, the precentral gyrus, in a word, has a positive effect on the state.
Truly harmonious structures of different centuries, in which natural proportions can be traced, rather than arbitrary, are favorable for the observer, which cannot be said of buildings with disharmonious proportions and forms.
Dr. Julio Bermudez, in his research, identifies two types of architecture:
contemplative;
not contemplative.
And it was he who advanced the theory that contemplative architecture causes a meditative state, but with less effort on the part of the individual than the traditional one.

Interview with a representative of an architectural bureau "Хвоя"
-How is modern architecture related to human perception? What is central to the meditation room?
We are accustomed to the fact that the main motive for modern architecture is functionality. Based on the planned use, not only buildings, but also entire neighborhoods are being built. The more unusual are the spaces that are designed on completely different grounds: the atmosphere, the feelings that a person has found inside become the main ones.
We are talking about the creation of rooms for meditation, relaxation, relieving psychological stress. Here the cherished goal for the architect becomes a combination of the material and the ideal. The outer space should become a natural continuation of the inner world of a person - then he can open up, release his feelings, streamline them and, ultimately, find harmony.
-What is the basis of the choice of architectural solutions in the design of this type of buildings?
Most often, these buildings are located away from the city noise. The ideal environment for them is nature. It is here that the easiest way for a person to feel peace, solitude, to renounce everyday fuss.
The space is designed in such a way that those inside are presented with paintings for contemplation:
sky with floating clouds;
surface of a natural or artificial reservoir;
picturesque foliage of trees.
The architect, as a sculptor, cuts out from the field of view all the distracting, violating peace.
Therefore, in such shelters, located on the border of the habitable environment and the natural world, are combined blank walls and panoramic windows.
What's inside, then outside
There are two fundamentally different views on the decoration of the pavilions. Many designers believe that only natural materials provide the right atmosphere. They prefer wood, stone, ceramics. Thus, the location of the pavilion is naturally associated not only with the inner world of the meditator, but also with nature behind its walls.
-What other architectural examples can I use?
But there are examples of shelters, designed with the use of super-modern technology. They allow you to create perfect surfaces, unique shapes, incredible textures, color and lighting effects. This space is fascinating, and the architect can, literally, manage the visitor's emotions.
-What is most important in designing a place for meditation?
Architecture and consciousness are directly related
To prove this connection, it is not necessary to study neuroscience for half his life. Suffice it to recall the impression that architectural masterpieces produce on us. As everyday life retreats, feelings are sharpened, some spaces lead us straight to enlightenment.
Continuation of your feelings
But what is the most important thing when creating such a refuge? - Of course, your personality.
-How is the process of creating such a shelter?
When architects and designers start solving such a problem, they carefully study the personality of a person, his inclinations. On this path, a leading idea crystallizes from a multitude of sketches, which causes maximum empathy for the customer. It is this approach that allows us to create a space in which you can fully open to restore your mental and physical strength.
